Spring Living Fair 2011

If you are a passionate individual who wants to take initiatives to preserve the health and sustainability of the planet, Spring Living Fair is an excellent event to be a part of. This project allows you to utilize the skills you have learned in school and apply them in the real business world, gaining hands-on experience.

Who to contact

Project Managers are Nicole Zschach and Sonia Dhaliwal. If you are interested in helping with SLF please attend our general meetings that are held every Thursday Morning at 7:30 am in room se6 205. Depending on how involved you would like to be, hours can range between 1-3 hours a week.

What jobs are there?

Spring Living Fair typically offers five categories of jobs: Logistics, Sales, Promotions, Sponsorship and Finance. A full description can be seen below:

Logistics

  • Coordinate rental and transportation of tables, chairs, equipment, and food
  • Assist with placing order for equipment
  • Assist with taking inventory of equipment
  • Set up / take down displays at venue on day of event (April 2)
  • Arrange floor plan
  • Attend Logistics Team meetings and participate in team decisions and operations
  • Provide Project Managers with status updates at weekly meetings

Sales

  • Contact past and potential new vendors
  • Follow up with vendors prior to event
  • Prepare thank-you cards for vendors
  • Attend Sales Team meetings and participate in team decisions and operations
  • Provide Project Managers with status updates at weekly meetings

Promotions

  • Provide BCIT Media Club with information for website
  • Assist BCIT Media Club with the content for posters / banners
  • Contact radio stations and TV for promoting
  • Advertise around the city using posters, word of mouth, and flyers
  • Contact and book entertainment for event
  • Order t-shirts
  • Attend Promotions Team meetings and participate in team decisions and operations
  • Provide Project Managers with status updates at weekly meetings

Sponsorship

  • Contact company’s for door prizes
  • Contact company’s for sponsorship
  • Attend Promotions Team meetings and participate in team decisions and operations
  • Provide Project Managers with status updates at weekly meetings

Finance

  • Prepare rough draft budget with all teams
  • Check in with teams regarding budget
  • Ensure teams stay on track with budget
  • Responsible for how money is circulated within each team
  • Attend Finance Team meetings as well as occasional other team meetings
  • Participate in team decisions and operations
  • Provide Project Managers with status updates at weekly meetings

Who is currently responsible for these jobs?

Currently, our SLF team exists of 14 SIFE members. Although each individual has a certain role, they are not limited to the duties and responsibilities listed in the job descriptions.
